MyFord Touch revealed at Consumer Electronics Show
Thu, 07 Jan 2010Ford is using the concept behind its Sync technology to dramatically redo the appearance of its instrument panels and the manner in which drivers interact with their cars. Ford is revealing MyFord Touch at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and the technology launches on the 2011 Ford Edge followed by global availability on the 2012 Focus. MyLincoln Touch will be standard on new Lincolns, starting with 2011 MKX.
Rare Ferrari sells for staggering £10 million
Mon, 30 Jun 2014A RARE FERRARI representing a key early stage in the history of the sports car manufacturer has sold at auction for £10.7 million. The sale of the 375-Plus at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, was a world auction record for a Ferrari sports racing car. A spokesman for auction house Bonhams also said it was the third highest price paid for any car sold at auction.
Magna Electronics develops 'Touchskin' concept [w/video]
Tue, 22 May 2012Electronics firm Magna is working on a new technology it calls 'Touchskin concept' that has the potential to eliminate traditional switches and instruments inside vehicles. As part of its ‘Intelligent Surface Technology', the Touchskin concept is set to be an integral part of a system that allows the user to control the car via intuitive gestures – such as pinching, tapping and swiping – as we've become so familiar with when using smartphones. The potential design implications are easy to see with the large amount of space made available by removing the traditional instrument cluster and its wiring and the removal of wired-in switches and buttons.
