Spare Tire Tie Down Strap from 1974 VW Kombi Bus Excellent Condition Nearly Unused

The only thing left from my 1974 VW Kombi Bus.  Purchased new then from Patterson Volkswagen in Mesa AZ.  Within months I moved the spare tire to the front and made it into a camper.  Had the bus for 20 years and 330K miles.  It’s been gone now for over 20 years.  But the strap was packed away.  Nylon (probably) with metal hardware.  50 ¼ inches long.  Like new.  The small plastic tire rim clip is gone.  From a non-kid, non-pet, non-smoking home.  Sold as-is.

For the curious: the Bus is pictured that first year in Scottsdale on north Hayden Road (yet a dirt road) with the McDowell Mountains in the background.

2011 Hyundai Coupe – Hyundai Veloster – teased

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The Hyundai Veloster - teased ahead of the Detroit Motor Show For all that Hyundai – and for that matter sister company Kia – have managed to become in the last few years, we need only look towards one car that signposted their potential – the Hyundai Coupe. Cheap as chips – certainly for what it offered – the Hyundai Coupe was a cracking drive and actually looked rather good. Some even claimed it was trying too hard and looked too much like a Ferrari.

Mercedes SLC (or Mercedes GT): It’s Official Spy photo time – again

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

Mercedes turn spy photographers for the baby SLS – the Mercedes SLC/GT It’s almost 4 years since we first revealed there were plans afoot at Mercedes-Benz to build a small, nimbler SLS to take on the Porsche 911 – a car subsequently dubbed the Mercedes SLC – but not until 2014. Well, 2014 is less than half a year away, Mercedes confirmed the SLC was in the mix and now we get a set of ‘spy’ photos of the SLC (or Mercedes GT, perhaps) – straight from Mercedes. It’s not the first time Mercedes has tried to put spy photographers out of business, as both the SLS had ‘official’ spy photos and video, as did the new Mercedes SLK.

Cash for clunkers: Is it ready for prime time in America?

Tue, 31 Mar 2009

One proposed solution to prop up new-car sales in the United States involves paying bonuses to owners of older vehicles who send their cars to the scrapyard and buy new ones. Proponents say that not only does the auto industry benefit, but so does the environment, as emissions decrease and fuel economy typically improves in newer models. Critics, however, say that scrapping older vehicles hurts collectors by reducing the number of older models available and also hurts those least able to afford to buy newer vehicles by driving up the price of used cars.
