Since its introduction into NASCAR in the 1960s, the 426 Hemi has been a popular powerplant for power-hungry customers across the Mopar spectrum. The 426 cubic-inch brute dwelled under the sheetmetal hoods of cars like the Dodge Coronet, Plymouth GTA, Plymouth Road Runner and even the Plymouth Barracuda. If there were a Hall of Fame for endurance drivers, the nine gentlemen assembled on Saturday at the 17th-annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance would certainly be members. Event founder and chairman Bill Warner needed 25 minutes just to read off a portion of their lifetime racing accomplishments as he introduced them individually to a packed ballroom at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, home of the event. Hurley Haywood, Vic Elford, Sam Posey, Joe Buzzetta, Gerard Larousse, Brian Redman, Jim Hall, David Hobbs and Derek Bell regaled the audience with tales of their amazing careers.

The 2014 Acura RDX goes on sale Wednesday with a base price of $35,415, including $895 in destination charges. Stepping up to the technology package brings the price to $39,115; all-wheel drive adds $1,400. Only one powertrain will be offered for 2014: a 3.5-liter V6 with a six-speed automatic transmission.
