So the Toyota FT-EV II is exactly what Toyota believes the EV future is – a small, slow city car. Toyota say of the FT-EV – “… (its) design and technology look to a future society where EVs will be in common use, among a range of different means of transport that will reflect user requirements, the type of energy used and the local energy supply infrastructure”.

The Eado has been designed to expand the company into the European market, and Changan's investment into design and production follows the current trend of Chinese automakers aiming to export their models to other markets. The Eado has been designed by Stefano Carminati and is said to combine the features of 'European fashion', 'Japanese fineness' and the needs of Chinese consumers to maximize its appeal.

It seems to epitomise all the was impressive about the decade and – despite now being 50 years old – it still stands up as a stylish and desirable car. Not only is the E-type stylish and iconic it’s having new life breathed back in to it by companies like Eagle, who build E-Types to order from restoration projects and to a standard that surpasses the way they ever came out of British Leyland (or whatever the name of the company was that built them at the time - there were several iterations of the BL Brand, unfortunately).
