Steen’s Taco style reproduction Trail Tamer mini bike forks

The Trail Tamer forks were a custom option on the original Steen’s Tacos and other mini bikes.

These are "leading link" type forks which suspends the wheel on a link (or links) with a pivot point aft of the wheel axle; this mechanism has the affect of improving the handling while steering or braking.

If you are a heavier rider or you want a great look for your custom bike; these forks are just the item you need. We have seen these forks used on Bonanzas, Bird, Rupp etc.

We re-manufactured these forks using computer aided design software to be exactly like the originals.

The steel tubing is .101 wall which is much thicker than the original .065 wall tubing.

There is no finish on these parts.

We have added a pair of 3/8” holes so that handlebar clamps with single mounting holes could be used; these types of handlebar clamps are popular on ATVs and small motorcycles and are MUCH easier to source than the original two hole clamps.

The double handlebar mounting holes are 1 ¼” apart and are .028 diameter; this is over sized for ¼”- 20 bolts.

Both sets of handlebar clamp mounting holes are spaced 2 5/8” apart.

The inside distance between the upper and lower fork plates is 4 ¾” ; if your frame neck is less than this; simply add a spacer or some washers as needed.

The hole for the neck bolt is ½”

The axle bushings are 5/8” ID

These forks originally had Italian Sebac shocks installed as shipped from the manufacturer in the 60s-70s. They are designed to be used with shocks that are 12” eye to eye; but slightly longer or shorter shocks could also be used.

Looks like the maximum wheel size that would work with these shocks is 8”

This auction is for the two unpainted fork assemblies show; the last picture shows a finished pair of forks with shocks; these are not included.

2012 BMW 3 Series UK: New photos & video – 4WD, new engines & hybrid confirmed

Mon, 06 Feb 2012

Lots of new 2012 BMW 3-Series photos BMW UK has produced a big gallery of UK specific photos for the new 2012 BMW 3-Series – and a video too – and confirmed xDrive and hybrid 3-Series for the UK. We got the reveal of the 2012 BMW 3-Series back in October, together with a decent amount of detail, a big photo gallery and video too. But as BMW UK has taken the trouble to send us a huge gallery of UK-specific photos of the new 3-Series, new UK 3-Series video and confirmed extra models, we thought the least we could was publish what they’ve sent.

Land Rover has given a first taste of the Discovery Vision Concept, which will debut at the New York International Auto Show later this month. The concept introduces the design themes that will define both the next generation of Freelander/LR2 and Discovery/LR4 models. Land Rover had previously announced that it would align its models under three pillars - 'luxury' for Range Rovers, 'leisure' for Discovery models – of which the Freelander/LR2 becomes – and 'dual purpose' for the long-awaited replacement for the Defender.
