The Roewe 350 is the first model built atop parent company SAIC's new A-class platform. At first sight, there appears considerable overlap with this latest model and the Roewe 550, but the 350's 2650mm wheelbase and overall length of 4521mm is roughly 100mm shorter than the 550. Ch–ch–ch–changes: time to face the strain, presciently sang David Bowie looking forward to the 41st Tokyo Motor Show. Since the 40th show in 2007, the car world has changed economically, politically and technologically. Even the show itself has suffered a pitiful transformation, stripped to just the Japanese firms after the European and American car makers block voted with their feet and jilted the show to save cash.

Renault’s electric cars ‘will cost the same as its diesels’

By Richard Yarrow Motor Industry 28 April 2009 12:10 Three electric vehicles (EVs) in development by Renault will cost the same as the equivalent diesels in Britain, the company has confirmed to CAR Online. Battery-powered electric Renaults are expected to cost from around £15,000 when they arrive in the next couple of years. The announcement takes into account the UK Government’s £5000 EV incentive scheme announced earlier this month.
