We're big fans of the Lexus LF-CC concept after seeing it in Paris. It's not what you would call traditionally beautiful but it's incredibly complex, engagingly off-beat and, most importantly, shows – along with the LF-LC concept – that Lexus may finally have a recipe for distinctive and consistent design. It's a compact SUV (what else, these days) that's taller and more stout-looking then the cheeky little C4 Cactus lightweight. Officially a concept car, but looking only a set of numberplates away from showrooms, the C-XR is especially notable for being the first SUV co-developed between Citroen and its Chinese brand partner, Dongfeng motor corp.

But the Maserati Alfieri could change that. Named after Alfieri Maserati – one of the founders of Maserati – the Alfieri  is a beautifully clothed sports car based on a shortened Granturismo MC Stradale chassis taking its inspiration from Maserati’s history but using it not to create a pastiche of the past but a credible view of the future.
