MG's return: how the Chinese will relaunch MG in 2011

MG TF roadster likely to die this year MG is relaunching in the UK first - in summer 2011 with the arrival of the 6 hatchback and saloon. It's a half-sized family car straddling the C- and D-segments, a bit like Skoda's Octavia, and will be priced aggressively. The Jaguar C-X17 concept will preview one of the brand's upcoming pair of SUVs, as well as its new modular aluminum platform that will underpin its next generation of cars. The teaser picture accompanying the press release doesn't give a huge amount away in terms of aesthetics, but familiar Jag elements such as the fender haunches and F-Type-style rear lamps suggest this will be instantly recognizable as a Jaguar. Its emphasis will be more on road performance than off-road ability in order to ensure it drives as a Jaguar should and also to avoid stepping on the toes of sister company, Land Rover.

The 919 Hybrid was unveiled this morning at the 2014 Geneva motor show – and a switch from Red Bull Racing to Porsche means this is also Mark Webber’s new company car. You’d be safe taking a punt and guessing it’s not a diesel engine like arch-rivals Audi, but it’s not a naturally aspirated V8 petrol like the one that’ll feature in the new Toyota TS040 either.
