One lap of the web: Arizona auctions edition

-- Pink was not a color offered for the Chevrolet Corvette -- a fact you're probably aware of. But one example was finished in (a rather nice, we think) shade of pink right at the factory for Harley Earl's wife. Hemmings Daily has the story on this rare car, which is heading to auction this week.

Jaguar BlackJag 2004 concept car up for sale

Wed, 28 May 2014

It's not often that a former auto show concept is offered for sale, mostly because of buzzkill stuff like government crash standards, emissions compliance documents and other boring paperwork. But it does happen from time to time, such as when General Motors sold off a chunk of its Heritage Collection -- though most of those cars were sold without titles, just on bills of sale, which prevents them from being registered for road use. This week there is (allegedly) a 2004 Geneva motor show concept for sale -- a running concept car for that matter -- with a steep price to go along with it, as GTSpirit has discovered.

And actually, Michael-extracting apart, the arrival of the 2.2 Diesel XF is a sure sign that Jaguar has its swagger back. Because if they were still afraid - as they were for a very long time - that a cheaper, smaller-engined XF would undermine the premium status the XF had earned since its arrival, they’d have continued to make excuses for its absence from the XF range.
