High powered engines and/or heavy vehicles can easily result in TH400 input shaft and forward clutch housing failures. A wise upgrade for turbocharged, supercharged, nitrous oxide, and extreme duty applications with engines producing between 750 and 1000 foot pounds of torque is CK Performance Part # 400CC/CPISWD. Proprietary steel billet material is used in the manufacture of this component. The profile of the shaft has been redesigned, including a torsion bar center that vastly improve its power transmission capabilities. The precision CNC shaped splines eliminate the undercuts behind the splines which are a known location for failures. Revisions have been made to the oil holes, and an increase in spline length and diameter increase overall spline engagement at the torque converter. .

To eliminate the common failure point at the interface between the input shaft and forward clutch housing, the OEM 30 spline clutch housing is bored out from .925” to 1.125” and broached to accept an oversize 40 spline shaft. Note the difference between the OEM housing  compared to the modified version.

This 40 spline shaft measures out at 1.200” in comparison to the OEM shaft at .9985.  By fitting the housing with the oversized shaft, the interface surface area of the shaft/housing is vastly increased, eliminating failures.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport speed record cancelled by Guinness

Sun, 07 Apr 2013

The title of the world’s fastest car held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has been removed from the Guinness World Records. But, nearly three years on from when the Veyron Super Sport achieved its world record run of 267.81mph, Guinness World Records have decided that it’s invalid. It seems the heirs to the McWhirter twins have discovered the Veyron Super Sport Bugatti used for their record setting run wasn’t a standard production car, but that Bugatti had removed its speed limiter.
