The 1965 Winternationals was a very special race. Normally a 3 day event, bad weather crammed the entire schedule into one long Sunday! Consequently, film of this historic event is extremely rare. Fortunately, in 2007, an estate sale in Tacoma WA, yielded 2 cans of color 8 mm footage! This rare film was converted to digital and edited for continuity. The results are this DVD- The 1965 Winternationals. The film reels also contained about 5 minutes of a stop in 1965 Las Vegas, and that's included here too! Look closely for the carpeted sidewalks, vintage casino show marquees (Collins Kids!), hip girls, and a cool Oldsmobile 442! Add the mid- 60's music of Jerry Cole, King of the Hot Rod Guitar and member of the famous group of LA studio musicians known as 'The Wrecking Crew', and you have a perfect trip into the Golden Age of Drag Racing!

Cars and racers include: Gas Ronda in the new '65 fiberglass Mustang, 2 Stone Woods & Cook cars, KS Pittman, Don Garlits, The Little Red Wagon doing wheelies, The Pulsator, fTrends Corvette, Tom McEwen in the Plymouth Dealers' FIRST HEMI CUDA (crashed the next week at Lions), Butch 'California Flash' Leal in the brand new Mopar factory altered-wheelbase Hemi A/FX (the FIRST FUNNY CAR!), Ramchargers, 'Grumpy' Jenkins, Tommy Grove in the Melrose Missile, Miss "Hurst  Golden Shifts" for 1965 Pat Flannery, Roland Leong, Tommy Ivo, dragsters, altereds, gassers ...and so much more you'll be exhausted after watching!

About 1/2 hour long, over 150 launches & races, footage of the crowds, and wandering the pits. Factory sealed DVD in custom case.

This DVD was exclusively sold through a restoration shop, which is now gone.  Ads for it ran in Mopar Muscle, Car Kulture Deluxe, Hemmings and Mopar Collector's Guide. The partners split up the business and one still operates under the shop name, though it's primarily a parts business now.

Multiple copies available- great Christmas / Holiday gift for the gearhead!

Porsche will bring its latest hybrid know-how to the racetrack in the form of the new 911 GT3 R Hybrid, revealed here for the first time prior to a planned public premiere at the Geneva auto show in early March. Developed by a team of engineers at Porsche's Weissach R&D center, Porsche plans for the stripped-out race car to act as a rolling laboratory. The German carmaker wants to explore the potential of hybrid drivetrains in a racing environment before an expected announcement that it will return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a factory capacity, perhaps in 2012, with a race car boasting technology based on that used in the 911 GT3 R Hybrid.
