In what seems a strange move, MBUSU – Mercedes in the States – is dropping the SLS AMG from its range in favour of the SLS AMG GT. When the Mercedes SLS AMG GT was revealed last week we were sure it was a new addition to the SLS range; a more edgy SLS for those wanting a bit more hard-core from their SLS and willing to dig a bit deeper to have one. 2013 Nissan Juke priced at $19,990

Nissan announced pricing for the 2013 Juke crossover on Wednesday. The base Juke S with a CVT will come in at $19,990, not including destination, while the all-wheel drive Juke SL starts at $26,650. The body remains the same for 2013, but the car's looks can be enhanced with a Midnight Edition package, which features 17-inch black wheels, a black roof spoiler and black rearview mirror caps.

Smart car inventor Nicolas Hayek dies

Nicolas Hayek, the engineer and industrialist who founded the Swiss watch company Swatch and brought the world the Smart car, died on June 28 of heart failure at his office in Switzerland. He was 82. Hayek saved the Swiss watch industry from lower-priced Asian competition in the early 1980s by offering colorful, inexpensive Swatch timepieces that he backed with equally colorful marketing.
