This listing is for a service offered--
Important: This listing is for repairing a faulty/old battery in your racing transponder, send it in to us, after repairs we ship it back (price includes USPS Priority return shipping after repairs).

We only need your transponder, do not ship it in with the cradle or charger - if it still blinks please wrap it one layer of foil.

Update: We can now create new cases for the old style transponder if you have any that are broken.  Check our other items for sale to see what charging cradles we have for sale!

For more details see the longer text below.

Please use the eBay contact form to start the process.  Generally we ask that you pay after repairs are completed, 1-year warranty on battery and any case separation issues from the repair.

If you choose to pay after repairs, we will send you a link to this eBay listing prior to it shipping back for payment.  Warranty card will be provided, and logged on our end.  The reason for this is that we do not have this listing under the services category which can better handle how the eBay system tracks shipping times.  If you pay in advance of repairs, it is causing our shipping stats to be rated poorly and we are missing out on lower eBay rates.

If you pay in advance, we ask that you rate the shipping speed based on the dates eBay provides during the feedback questions.  As it does not take into account that you are first shipping your transponder to us for repairs, the repair times, and return shipping.

Pictures include a few before and after examples.  We service both the old style that has screws and the newer style that was renamed to the "Classic" transponder.  TranX 160, TranX 260, MX style - AMB MyLaps  (AMB rebranded themselves to MyLaps, both are the same although there have been revisions to the internal components over time)

Inquire for group or club discounts.

Note: Not all of the older style transponders support sleep mode, if you leave your transponder in the charging cradle and unplug the power cord.  Watch the light, if it goes out after a few mins it has entered sleep mode.  If it continues to blink it does not support this function.

FAQ on my website for lots more info.  CNC process is now used on the "classic" case transponder, see pictures.  Only a small 1cm square hatch is cut to help access the battery.

Short version of the process (around 7 to 8-days total):
Step 1:  Inspection and testing when it arrives, we contact you at this point.
Step 2:  Remove old battery (about 2-hours)
Step 3:  Insert new battery and begin testing phase (upwards of 2-days depending on charge time) We contact you again at this step.
Step 4:  Ideally this next step is to let transponder discharge fully, we log total time. (longest part of the repair, can be skipped if needed and we will send you additional instructions to check at home).
Step 5:  If new battery passes tests, case is sealed with resin that matches original color.  Prepared for shipping after some curing time.
Step 6:  We contact you either for payment (via eBay) and provide tracking numbers.

Important - if you need rush processing, step 4 is skipped.  Drops repair time to around 2 to 3-days, plus shipping return usually of 2 to 3-days.

Other services - custom sticker replacement, or LED light replacement on both styles of cases.  If you want a custom sticker please ask for details, it will be printed on waterproof vinyl and have a satin clear finish for add UV protection.  CNC cut to fit perfectly in the old sticker space.

See eBay feedback, or other track references are available if needed.  See our review article here - Motor Cyclist Online Review

Ferrari 458 Italia Spider leaks out. Probably.

Sat, 20 Aug 2011

Ferrari 458 Italia Spider leaks out - probably It’s only a couple of weeks since we reported that Ferrari would be taking the convertible 458 to Frankfurt, and now we have a set of three leaked photos of the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider in all its glory, doubtless leaked out from a magazine printers. We’re not completely convinced the photos of the 458 Spider are real – they seem familiar somehow and could be good Photoshops – but if they are real there’s no doubt Ferrari won’t be amused – as Italians seldom are under these circumstances. But assuming the photos are real they just tell us what we already know – the 458 Spider is the regular 458 Italia with its roof chopped off.

2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 revealed

Fri, 13 Aug 2010

The 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Petrolheads on this side of the Pond know what a Mustang is, even if we don’t exactly covet it. But it’s one thing not really coveting a 2011 V6 Mustang – even if it is much improved on the last version – but it’s quite another to ignore the ‘Super’ Mustang know as the Boss. Ford has announced the Ford Mustang Boss 302 for 2012, and they’re claiming they’ve used the M3 as a benchmark for handling.
