Universal Convertible Top Switch Mopar Ford General Motors New Heavy Duty on 2040-parts.com
Punta Gorda, Florida, US
This is a Heavy Duty universal convertible top switch. It will work perfectly in any convertible 1959 and newer, FoMoCo, General Motors, Mopar and other Independent makes as long as your original switch has 3 wires. Not a 4 or 5 wire switch. It will not mount in the original place. It is designed to come through a 1/2 " hole usually put down in the lower part of the dash. Leave the original switch in its place for cosmetic reasons. This is a momentary switch which means the knob is spring loaded, so that it will return back to the center/off position on its own when you take your finger off the knob. That is very important so not to burn out your convertible top motor should the switch get bumped by mistake. It comes complete with all mounting hardware and has a Nice attractive chrome knob !!
This switch is not just a regular toggle switch like you will find in your local hardware store or swapmeet. This one is rated for 50 amps. That is very important when used with a convertible top motor. Convertible top motors draw upwards of 30 to 35 amps on start up which will quickly burn up the contacts on a regular toggle switch and may even cause damage to you top motor

Tue, 25 Jun 2013We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- We covered the 24 Hours of Le Mans top to bottom including every make and class, but if your preferred marque is Porsche you might enjoy the Porsche Purist's look at how cars from Stuttgart fared during the endurance classic, complete with photos, stats and results.
Police authorities turning a blind eye to lane hoggers
Thu, 16 Jan 2014REX Features MSN Cars can exclusively reveal that just 13 drivers have been fined for lane hogging on the M25 since new laws were introduced last year – while thousands are still penalised for breaking the speed limit. The news comes following a freedom of information request carried out by MSN to the six police authorities covering London’s orbital motorway, which according to the Department for Transport carries 153,000 vehicles a day. Fines for middle-lane hogs from this FridayOn Bing: see pictures of motorway lane hoggers The law was changed on 16 August 2013 to give police officers the power to fine motorists £100 for sitting in the middle lane of the motorway, or any other form of driving considered “careless”, such as tailgating.
2012 Audi R8 facelift, more power & S-tronic ‘box
Tue, 26 Jul 2011Audi R8 getting a facelift - and more power - in 2012 The supercar with a mainstream car maker’s badge attached that is the Audi R8 has been something of a success as a halo car for the Audi range since it arrived in V8 form in 2007 (well, probably 2008 by the time most customer cars turned up). Since the original V8 R8 arrived we’ve had an absolute deluge – in supercar terms – of R8 models from Audi including the R8 V8, R8 V8 Spyder, R8 V10, R8 V10 Spyder and the rather costly R8 GT and R8 GT Spyder. But through that time the engines – apart from in the R8 GT – have remained the same, as has the woeful R-Tronic gearbox.
