Jaguar-Land Rover sold today (2008)
Wed, 26 Mar 2008By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 26 March 2008 10:18 Ford has finally sold its Jaguar and Land Rover subsidiaries to Indian manufacturing giant Tata Motors. The Blue Oval announced the widely anticipated sale to the US stock markets and employees this morning, confirming it was paid $2.3 billion (£1.2bn) for the two premium British marques. It has sold them wholesale, rather than keeping a stake as it did with Aston Martin - ending a decade of American ownership.Ford bought Land Rover from the BMW-Rover break-up in 2000, 11 years after it acquired Jaguar.
2012 Porsche Boxster arrives in the UK. Price from £37,589
Sat, 05 May 20122012 Porsche Boxster - now in Porsche UK showrooms The 2012 Porsche Boxster – and Boxster S – arrive in Porsche UK showrooms today priced from £37,589. Porsche revealed the 2012 versions of the Boxster and Boxster S back in January looking, as you would expect from Porsche, much the same as the previous two generations of Boxster. Despite a familiar look the 2012 Boxster gets a comprehensive makeover with a sharper look thanks to shorter overhangs, a longer wheelbase and a wider track.
The Mini is 50 years old today
Fri, 08 May 2009Today - 08/05/2009 - is the 50th anniversary of the first Mini rolling off the production line. To celebrate, and for a bit of free publicity (see, we’re playing the game) BMW has shipped the first Mini to roll of the production line back to Cowley to celebrate (picture at the bottom). 621 AOK, a Mini Minor, in Old English White, looks as fresh as the day it rolled off the production line half a century ago (although I wouldn’t mind betting it doesn’t have it’s original sills – they always rusted through – or copes with its original distributor and leads – one splash of rain and the car ground to a halt!).
