Wolfgang Bernhard will take a key role at Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz Cars unit, the company said today. Bernhard will join Daimler's management board with responsibility for Mercedes-Benz Cars' production and procurement and for the Mercedes-Benz vans division, a statement said. Bernhard, 49, was Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche's right-hand man at Chrysler before Daimler sold its former U.S.

Red Bull-Infiniti driver Sebastian Vettel made his small-screen debut on Friday in a new series from Infiniti named Kung Fu Vettel: Drive of the Dragon. Vettel stars alongside actress Celina Jade in the short-action commercial/film. This is the first in the series that eventually will include Red Bull teammate Mark Webber.

Ford has revealed the Lincoln MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, a titivated upmarket offering based on the Ford Kuga. Despite strong sales on the other side of the Pond, Ford is struggling in Europe – just like every other mainstream car brand – and they’re probably ruing the day they decided to unravel their Premier Auto Group, selling off Aston Martin, Volvo and – their biggest mistake – Jaguar Land Rover. Which means that if Ford want to get back in to the – potentially very profitable – realm of premium cars again they’re stuck with doing it with one of their ‘brands’.
