About

The MRT Story......
Growing up in the presence of enthusiastic and supportive parents meant that the Middleton's
passion for maximising their car's performance and reliability was always going to take them
beyond club level. As a result, the MIDDLETON RALLY TEAM (MRT) was formed in 1983, and their
subsequent success along with the first hand experience that comes with it, has become the
platform of what the MRT business has evolved into today.

From the NSW State Rallysprint title in 1988, MRT won the Canberra International Rally, 1300cc class, 4 years in a row. We (MRT) then ran the highly successful Daihatsu factory team, winning numerous Australian Manufacturers Championship's plus the Formula 2 Championship in 1993 and 1994. In the same year MRT were contracted to prepare two Charades for the factory in Japan - a major coup for a team of our size - but in reality an acknowledgement that our 'hands on' approach put us in a better position than the overseas manufacturer to extract maximum performance and reliability from the cars in our harsh Australian climate and road conditions.

Chevrolet Sonic turbo gets six-speed automatic

Thu, 22 Mar 2012

Chevrolet Sonic fans who want the turbocharged 1.4-liter engine but don't want a manual transmission are in luck. Chevrolet is now shipping the Sonic with a six-speed automatic mated to the turbo engine. Fuel economy for the turbo Sonic, despite the automatic, is 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, with a 0-to-60-mph time of about eight seconds, Chevy says.

Which Boss is Boss? We pit the original Mustang Boss 302 against the 1983 Ford Mustang GT

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

The 1983 Ford Mustang GT wasn't an official follow-up to the Boss 302, but that didn't stop us from drawing the comparison in the Feb. 28, 1983 issue of Autoweek. Or putting the then-brand-new hot pony car to the test against its hallowed performance predecessor.
