Erstwhile GM interior design chief David Lyon, alongside former GM engineer Nina Mital and ex-Ford designer Gary Braddock – the three members of new Michigan-based design consultancy Pocketsquare – will have the first fruits of their new venture displayed at the NAIAS in Detroit in the form of Panasonic's advanced interior design concept. The interior makes use of Panasonic's new range of head-up displays and smart clusters to reduce driver distraction in advance of the latest proposed NHTSA legislation. The system is said to exceed these measures by as much as 35 per cent.

Volvo are on a mission to prevent any deaths in their cars by 2020, and the new Volvo XC90 – due to be revealed shortly – looks set to push Volvo closer to that aim with an impressive array of new and sophisticated tech as standard. Saab EIB loan repaid by Swedish Government

Sweden has repaid Saab's EIB loan With Saab in administration, the European Investment Bank (EIB) has called in the Swedish Government guarantee on Saab’s loan. In the midst of Victor Muller’s efforts to restructure Saab, Saab received access to a European Investment Bank loan of €400 million, of which it accessed some €217 million. But just like any less than credit worthy individual Saab needed a guarantor for the loan, which they received from the Swedish Government.
