KIMPEX
SNOWPAK CERAMIC BRAKE PADS
Part # 273831 05 - 20152 - 2050CM

Pad Purpose - The purpose of any brake pad is to push or squeeze against the brake drum or disc to slow it down. Softer brake pads "bite" into the rotor and stop better but tend to wear out faster.

Stopping Power - The stopping power of ceramic and metallic pads varies by temperature. Ceramic pads tend to stop better when very hot and metallic operate better in the cooler range.

Fade Resistance - A ceramic pad’s strongest point is its ability to resist "brake fade", or the tendency to lose performance during repeated use and subsequent heating.

Wear - Though both pads tend to wear at similar rates, the ceramic’s softer material surface helps prevent damage to metal rotors.

Noise and Dust - Ceramic pads vibrate at a higher frequency than the human ear can detect, and thus appear quieter in operation than metallic. Also, ceramic pads don’t cause the black "brake dust" deposits like metallic pads.

British driver breaks speed record for steam-powered car

Tue, 25 Aug 2009

One of the world's oldest speed records has gone up in smoke--or rather, steam. Charles Burnett III drove a steam car to an average speed of 139.843 mph over two runs in California to beat the 103-year-old record of Fred Marriott. Burnett peaked at 136.103 mph on the first run, then he accelerated to 151.085 mph on the second run less than an hour later.

Jaguar XK and XKR special editions on sale

Thu, 16 Feb 2012

Jaguar has introduced special-edition models of the XK and the XKR, but they're not coming to North America. We're not sure why--sales of the XK and the XKR have been strong in the United States the past few months. Jaguar says the special-edition models feature enhanced interiors more than anything else.
