Mitsubishi readies diesel Racing Lancer for Dakar

Mitsubishi is pinning all its hopes on the Racing Lancer in its bid to take an eight straight title. It's the first time a Japanese manufacturer has used a diesel car in the event, but the Europeans have competed with derv racers before.

The image reveals little about the EV, but we expect the five-seat battery-powered car to have Ford Focus-like dimensions, thanks to its compact motor. We can also decipher that the badge hides a charging socket at the front – a neat solution that’ll make the EV easy to charge in right- and left-hand drive markets. The introduction of Nissan’s EV comes just a week after the Japanese company unveiled plans to produce battery packs at its Sunderland plant.
2014 BMW 5-series revealed
Mon, 20 May 2013When the 2014 BMW 5-series goes on sale in August, the 528i will cost $50,425 while the V8-equipped 550i will sticker at $64,825. Those prices include a $925 destination charge. A diesel engine will be offered in the new 535d, for $57,525.
