Koenigsegg are in the running to take over Saab Saab were given Swedish Government protection recently (similar to Chapter 11) to try and find a suitor or funding to operate independently. Of course they can’t do that completely, at least not in the short term, as they are so tied in to GM’s platforms on their current and soon to be released cars. But Saab has a strong – if quirky – history and, with the right backing, could stand alone as a niche maker of aesthetically individual cars.

Need for Speed Ford Mustang sells for $300,000

The 900hp Ford Mustang GT as seen in the latest Need for Speed movie has sold at an auction in the US for $300,000 – that’s roughly £180,000. Unfortunately, the winning bidder might be disappointed to find out that in real life it doesn’t make anywhere near the 900hp claimed in the film, instead running a stock 420hp. The Auris Icon Plus comes with a new set of 16″ alloys, privacy glass, folding electric door mirrors and the option of a new Tungsten Blue Metallic. Inside, the Icon Plus gets heated front sports seats, the new Toyota Touch 2 with SatNav and cruise control (but only on the petrol and hybrid versions.
