All aluminum ZL-1 engine. Almost 20k of machine work. 510 cu in, approx 800hp. New Inglese fuel injection, billet specialties true trac pulley setup. Engine block, heads, fuel injection and true trac have been fully polished by Jeff Smith Polishing in Bowling Green KY. Motor built and all machine work done by PAR race engines. And we mean extremely limited: just 40 cars celebrating 40 years of BMW racing in North America will be made. Each car will have the Frozen Silver paint, black hood intakes and dark chrome exterior trim.

The third annual Car Design Awards China is now open, and entries are invited from students of any design discipline who are studying full time at a college in China. They will work to briefs set by the design chiefs of OEMs including Daimler, GM, JAC, Nissan and Volkswagen.

Mon, 10 Oct 2011Vauxhall VXR8 & SMART for-two CDI take MPG Marathon honours On the face of it, it’s reasonable to expect a car as small as the SMART for-two CDI to be capable of astonishing economy if driven in a certain way. And the ALD Automotive / Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon, run last week near Cirencester, proved exactly that, with a SMART driven by Mick Linford and co-driver Ella Flynn managing to use less than four gallons of diesel to cover the 370 mile route. That means the SMART fortwo CDI averaged 99.24mpg on the route on real roads, an improvement of 16 per cent on the official combined figure of 85.6.
