PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Scorpion ATR is Pirelli's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed for pickup, crossover and sport utility vehicle drivers that want to combine on-road civility with off-road capability. The Scorpion ATR is designed to master long
highway journeys, wet roads and the challenges of winter driving by
combining paved road comfort and handling with rough terrain grip and
maneuverability. The Scorpion ATR features a silica-enhanced tread
compound molded into a quiet-running, symmetric all-terrain type
tread pattern. A virtual continuous center rib and large, stable shoulder
tread blocks provide directional stability and steering response while
interlocked independent tread blocks in the center tread area further
promote acoustic comfort, even on-road wear and off-road traction.
Sweeping central circumferential grooves and lateral shoulder grooves
channel water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.
The independent tread blocks are siped to provide extra biting edges
that enhance off-road traction on loose surfaces and in snow.

Mercedes GLA goes subterranean

FOR SUV owners looking to test their cars’ off-road credentials, the obvious place to put them to the test probably isn’t nearly 200 metres underground. But that’s exactly where the new Mercedes GLA found itself as it descended into Winsford Rock Salt Mine, 620 feet beneath the Cheshire countryside. The working mine, which supplies much of the UK’s gritting salt for wintry roads, played host to four standard (apart from extra driving lights) GLA models, which were lowered down into the mine nose first before being let loose in the 130-mile network of tunnels.

Nissan Juke R takes to the track on video

The road-legal Nissan Juke R may never be built, but today Nissan showed off its the GT-R-powered Juke performing on track.  It's a madcap one-off Juke pepped up with the GT-R's 523bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6. The video below was recorded at the MIRA track in Warwickshire, as engineers had a chance to fine-tune the chassis.
