By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 19 August 2009 09:42 Porsche has just unveiled these first photographs of the new second-generation 997 GT3 RS – Porsche shorthand for the hardest, most track-focused contemporary 911 yet. While some prefer the sledgehammer power of the new 911 Turbo and others choose the widowmaker, aka the loony, rear-drive turbocharged GT2, for many the 911 GT3 RS is the purest of the rear-engined Porsches. The new photos of the GT3 RS reveal a 911 that’s been fettled and feted, prepared for use cross-country or at Cadwell Park race track.

When we reported prices and specs last week for the new Hyundai Veloster, we were suitably impressed at what was on offer, with one exception – the engine. We’d been hoping for a little more oomph from the successor to the very good Hyundai Coupe, and we were a little disappointed that the only engine on offer was a 138bhp diesel.

Not only is there a choice of three-door and five-door 108s, there’s also a choice of two engines -a  68bhp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder and the new 1.2-litre PureTech VTi – and four trim levels - Access, Active, Allure and Feline  - although you’ll have to settle for Active or Allure if you want the Top! Cabrio.
