Description & Specification

An oil catch tank is used in turbo applications, or high-performance racing applications where excessive blow-by (leakage past the piston rings) of air and fuel vapor occurs. This creates a positive pressure in the crankcase. During engine operation, blow-by gases, as well as oil mist from the rotating components of the engine, pass through the PCV valve and are routed back into the intake for the engine to burn off. However, some of the oil mist and other by-products settle along the engine intake and over time form a gunk. The oil catch tank collects such oil mist and condenses the fuel vapors while allowing cleaner gases to be passed back into the intake.

BMW 135is for the US only. But you can have much the same in the UK.

Wed, 16 May 2012

BMW 135is - US only BMW is not taking the new M135i to the US but has instead announced the BMW 135is Coupe and Convertible for the US only. There must be logic to BMW’s decision to badge a new 1 Series M135i for the UK and Europe and then add a new model in the US – the 135is Coupe – that actually has more power but no ‘M’ moniker. But that logic does escape us.

2014 Volvo XC90 on track as part of £3.5 billion investment in Sweden

Tue, 04 Dec 2012

Volvo are investing £7 billion in their future – half of that in Sweden – and the first model to benefit will be the long overdue 2014 Volvo XC90. Just like all of Ford’s premium automotive adventures - Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin included – Volvo has suffered from a long period of under investment but now – with China’s Geely in charge – they’re forging ahead with big investment and big plans to try and emulate the turnaround Tata has accomplished at JLR. That means an investment of £7 billion over the next three years – £3.5 billion of that in Sweden – in a new scalable architecture (SPA) platform and new Volvo engine architecture (VEA) to underpin most of Volvo’s future models.

Saab 9-3 ePower – First electric Saab revealed

Fri, 17 Sep 2010

The Saab 9-3 ePower - will spawn a 70 car test fleet fo electric Saabs It’s great to see Saab back doing what a car maker should be doing, instead of fighting for survival under the cosh of the big, bad Yanks. Sadly, Saab are doing what much of the car world is also doing; paying lip service to the concept of big electric cars. Oh, well.
