Honda EV-Ster
Thu, 01 Dec 2011One of Honda's many debutants at Tokyo 2011 was the EV-Ster concept. The tiny two-seat roadster boasts an electric rear-wheel drive layout beneath the ‘dynamic and innovative' exterior styling. The heavily defined flanks and short over-hangs give the EV-Ster a sporting stance, the extensive use of carbon composites further confirming this, whilst the DRG boasts the familiar alternate energy family graphics.
First Sight: Holden Torana concept
Wed, 13 Oct 2004Holden has stolen the limelight at the opening of the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, unveiling a ground-up concept car dubbed the Torana TT36. The concept revives a famous Australian nameplate from the 1970s - appropriate since, like the original Torana, it features rear wheel drive and a six cylinder engine. That's where the similarities end, however, as the new Torana's engine is an experimental 280kW/490Nm twin turbocharged version of the new global V6 Holden has begun manufacturing for various parts of the GM world and which will eventually be used by Alfa Romeo.
Lotus Evora 414E Range Extender EV moves forward
Sun, 28 Oct 2012The Lotus Evora 414E – a Lotus Engineering range extender hybrid project – is still moving ahead with dynamic and durability testing now underway. On the surface the Evora 414E looked like every other Evora, but under the skin sat the first version of a Lotus range-extender platform with a pair of electric motors and a small, 3-cylinder range-extender engine promising impressive performance and economy. Despite the reveal of the 414E at Geneva in 2010, there’s not been a huge amount of news on Lotus pushing forward with the project, or at least not until we got the Infiniti Emerg-E Concept at Geneva this year that turned out to be underpinned by the Evora 414E platform.
