It's been three years since the racing world lost one of its greatest heroes and nicest guys. Now, on the 50th anniversary of his world championship, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is celebrating the life and accomplishments of Phil Hill--the first American to hold that title--with a new exhibit of his cars and a gala celebration of his greatest races. First is the exhibit, assembled in collaboration with Phil's son Derek, himself a racer.

Porsche has officially put the 918 Spyder on sale for a breathtaking MSRP of $845,000. Oh goodness, this Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet is quite possibly this author’s favourite car ever to come up for auction. Pinpointing exactly why we love it so much is hard, probably because there are just so many reasons. But when we saw it featuring in the top 10 sales at this week’s RM Auctions Paris sale, we couldn’t move on with our lives without giving it a gallery all for itself.
