Infiniti Q30 concept rendered ahead of Frankfurt motor show reveal
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Infiniti has released a rendering of its upcoming Q30 concept, which will be unveiled at this year's Frankfurt motor show in September. The Q30 concept is intended as a contemporary design vision for a future compact vehicle from the brand. "This Infiniti Q30 concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy," said Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti president.
Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive gets wheel hub electric motors
Sat, 27 Apr 2013The Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive – a driveable research vehicle built by Ford and German specialists Schaeffler – may be a regular supermini in size, but it points towards a potential future EV which is much more compact and very manoeuvrable. Ford has taken a regular Fiesta and dumped its powertrain, replacing it with a battery bank where the engine would be and fitted a pair of in-hub electric motors on the rear wheels. But the plan is to build new cars with the batteries under the floor which frees up the space under the bonnet which can then be all but removed to create a very compact urban car that still has space for four.
New software for cloud-based 3D model file sharing and reviewing
Tue, 07 May 2013Sunglass is a new platform for sharing and syncing 3D models files over the Cloud has been developed, allowing designers to collaborate on a single model, regardless of their location. Created by MIT graduates Kaustuv DeBiswas and Nitin Rao, Sunglass allows designers, clients and co-workers to share, review and chat with others linked to the project in real time and virtually annotate onto the models directly in their browser without having to download any software. One of the main attractions of Sunglass is that it works with most 3D modeling software such as Autodesk, Solidworks, Rhino and sketch-up.
