Aston Martin V12 Zagato – 49 bite the dust
Sun, 22 Jul 2012The Aston Martin V12 Zagato was going to have up to a 150 production run, but Aston Martin now say they will build just 101 cars. The Aston Martin V12 Zagato is a great creation with OTT styling courtesy of Zagato. But, when all’s said and done, it’s just a V12 Vantage in pretty clothes with a few tweaks, yet it costs three times as much – a slightly eye-watering £330k.
Karmann-Ghia Coupé redesigned by Brazilian students
Wed, 31 Jul 2013The winners of the Karmann-Ghia Brazilian student competition to design a modern interpretation of its classic Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Coupé have been revealed. Over almost 60 years the German-Italian company has become an important supplier of car bodies and tooling in Brazil, but the market has lacked a model carrying the Karmann-Ghia badge since the '70s. The original coupé, which inspired the contest, was launched in Brazil in 1962 and remained in the market for 10 years before it was replaced by the Volkswagen SP – considered the first car completely developed in the country.
McLaren London: Open for business
Wed, 22 Jun 2011McLaren London - open for business Almost exactly a year on from McLaren’s announcement that the UK will have three McLaren dealers – London, Birmingham and Manchester – the first of those dealers, McLaren London, opened for business yesterday. Operated by Jardine Motors (who may be more familiar as Lancaster), Mclaren London is the ground floor face of One Hyde Park, the mega-bucks apartment block you may best know as the building where £1 billion of apartments have been sold – but no one has moved in. Ron Dennis is probably banking on some of the owners of those apartments – including a Ukrainian Oligarch said to have paid £136 million for his apartment – popping downstairs to take a look at what McLaren has on offer – and bringing along a friend or three.
