NO Jaguar SUV says Ian Callum Jaguar design boss Ian Callum has stated that Jaguar are NOT planning an SUV but could build a crossover. Ever since Jaguar’s Brand Director Adrian Hallmark said that Jaguar needed a crossover there’s been much speculation (from Cars UK just as much as elsewhere, we confess) that a Jaguar SUV is in the planning, despite Land Rover’s pre-eminence in the field. But it looks like we should have listened more carefully to Adrian Hallmark, who actually said Jaguar “…need a crossover and we need to stop being a saloon-based company.” We all leapt on the ‘stop being a saloon-based company’ bit as confirmation an SUV is planned when Adrian actually meant a crossover and not a full-blown SUV.

Jaguar Land Rover create 700 more jobs at new engine plant

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that they are creating an additional 700 jobs – double the original – at their new engine plant in Wolverhampton. Back in 2011, we revealed that Jaguar Land Rover were planning a new facility on the i54 development in Wolverhampton to build engines for their cars, removing the reliance on Ford’s (excellent) engines in the process. That investment was to be £335 million with 700 new jobs created in Wolverhampton – and more than 2,000 in the supply chain – but it seems that’s not going to be enough with Jaguar Land Rover sales continuing to grow at a great rate of knots.

Philip Hammond drops a clanger on Winter Tyres Throughout all of last year’s snow we lost count of the number of times we were asked if winter tyres were a good idea. You see, winter tyres are not something the Brits know much about. Ask most UK drivers what a winter tyre is and they have visions of something bordering on a James Bond special with spikes to get a grip.
