Ford brings stop/start system to U.S.

Ford will equip many of its U.S. cars and SUVs with stop/start technology, beginning in 2012, which automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop, cutting down on fuel use and emissions. The technology, which Ford calls Auto Start-Stop, will be available with either manual or automatic transmissions.

Honda recalls sedans for power-steering issue

Honda has expanded a recall of the Honda Accord and Acura TL sedans that now affects more than a half-million vehicles for a problem with hoses that connect the power steering. Honda says that prolonged exposure to high temperatures could cause the power-steering hoses to crack. The fluid could leak onto a hot catalytic converter, leading to a fire.
