It forecasts a 27% drop in 911, Boxster, Cayman and Cayenne sales to around 34,000 units in the six months to the end of January 2009 (Financial Times, subscription required)• Ford wants Washington to do more to stimulate car sales, after posting a record loss of nearly $14.6 billion earlier this week (Detroit News)• Honda's quarterly profit has crashed by 90% – forcing the Japanese car maker to halve its annual profit target (Detroit Free Press)Thursday 29 January 2009• Ford of Europe is a bright spot in the Blue Oval's quarterly results today, making $1.06 billion pre-tax profit in 2008 (up from $997m in 2007). Porsche Design to launch two bikes

Porsche will be joining its fellow car manufacturers when they release two bikes in September. The Porsche Design ‘RS' and ‘S' bikes are designed with speed in mind and will be the latest additions to their Driver's Selection range. The ‘Rennsport', or ‘RS' bike, is a sports bike featuring a monocoque-constructed carbon frame for stability and damping, 20-speed Shimano XTR gear and 29-inch Crank Brothers wheels.

Peter Horbury replaces Steve Mattin as Vice President of Design at Volvo Cars

Ford Motor Company announced key changes to both Volvo Cars and Ford's Americas design operations today. Effective May 1, Peter Horbury, currently Executive Director of Ford Americas Design, will return to Volvo as Vice President of Design, replacing Steve Mattin who, according to Volvo, "elected to leave the company". Insider sources tell us he was forced out.
