Infiniti Q50 hit by steer-by-wire recall in the US

Infiniti has issued a recall notice in the US for a small number of Q50 models fitted with the firm’s new Direct Adaptive Steering system. This is a ‘steer-by-wire’ steering system that only has a mechanical link between the steering wheel and the wheels as a back-up. The rest of the time the steering is operated by electronics, rather than a direct connection.

The Scion FR-S Concept - the North American Toyota FT-86 It’s actually starting to look as if Toyota – and Subaru, for that matter – are really going to finally get their respective fingers out and deliver to the market the affordable sports cat they’ve been promising for the last two year. The original Toyota FT-86 surfaced in 2009 with a promise of affordability and fun and we all got quite excited, especially as it was a surprisingly brave move for an increasingly bland and corporate Toyota. The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid Yes, it’s yet another eco car, this time from Volvo. But as eco cars go the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid does seem to have quite a lot going for it. Volvo confirmed back in 2009 that they would bring a plug-in hybrid to market by 2012, and it looks like they are very much on track as we learn they are planning on taking the V60 Plug-in to Geneva in March in what they say is almost production-ready form.
