This sale is for the NOS 1940 MERCURY TRUNK LID HANDLE shown. THE 1940 MERCURY DECK LID HANDLE HAS NEVER BEEN REPRODUCED SO AN NOS ONE LIKE THIS IS A RARE ITEM TODAY. It is in excellent new condition with a war time grey painted finish as shown in the photos. It has spent 75 years in the dealer's parts department and will fit all models of these cars. The little flipper cover over the lock hole is in perfect condition and fits snugly. This handle has part number 09A-7043500 and has never been installed on a vehicle. These NOS handles do not come with the lock cylinder as the factory expected these handles to be used to replace collision damaged handles where the lock cylinder would be transferred to the new handle. It is being offered at a very low price. THIS HANDLE CAN BE USED ON A CUSTOM CAR WANTING A PAINTED FINISH OR WOULD BE PERFECT TO PLATE IT WITH A CONCOURSE QUALITY CHROME FINISH. Thu, 21 Jan 2010Kia wil preview the Kia Ray Concept plug-in hybrid at the Chicago Motor Show next month Yes, the Detroit Motor Show is only just about done, but waiting in the wings is the rather less fancy Chicago Motor Show (although they probably won’t thank us for describing it as such). But despite Chicago being a lower key affair than Detroit they will still get their share of new stuff. Well, not necessarily new (we reported that North America gets the BMW Alpina B7 which will debut at Chicago) but certainly new to the US.

But BMW want to tempts M5 and M6 buyers with a range of M Performance upgrades to help them make their new performance BMW more individual, and divest them of a sizeable chunk of cash in the process. The new M Performance upgrades are also to capitalise on Martin Tomczyk’s success in the DTM Series, and as he’s now out and about in an M6 Gran Coupe this all fits very well.

Wed, 30 Jul 2014Range Rover Sport SVR takes on the Nurburgring – and wins (video) We’re not sure at what point a car actually becomes a ‘production’ car, but that’s a tag Land Rover are putting on the new Range Rover Sport SVR as it takes to the Nurburgring and comes away with a time of 8 minutes 14 seconds – the fastest by a production SUV. Land Rover are keen to tell us the lap by the RRS SVR was in a standard production car, by which we assume a car that’s built to the specification announced for the Sport SVR when it arrives next year. That means the full fat 542bhp from its 5.0 litre V8 and performance that is clearly impressive, although Land Rover still hasn’t given us specific performance figures, and certainly enough - together with suspension tweaks – to make it very impressive on road.
