Crunch watch Feb 09: the auto industry in crisis

It's a morale boost for JLR which has been hit by a slump in demand with the global slowdown (BBC News)• Opel this afternoon agreed to a restructuring plan designed to save as many jobs and factories as possible – but it needs a €3.3 billion lifeline from the state.

Media reviews for the 2013 Range Rover have been going on in Morocco this week, so we have a round-up and video. Sadly, Cars UK didn’t get an invite, but that’s not going to stop us doing our own ‘review’ of what the lucky ones who did attend thought of the Range Rover. And we’ve also got hold of Land Rover’s B-Roll footage from the tests – designed to be chopped up and voiced-over for individual video reviews of the new Range Rover – so we’ve put that at the bottom for you to flick through.

DRIVERS STIILL LOVE THEIR MGS AND ROVERS

THERE ARE still nearly one million MG and Rover cars on the road, according to a study by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. These figures demonstrate the longevity of MG Rover cars and the continued success of parts specialist XPart in keeping these highly regarded vehicles on the road. Some models recorded a decline of just one per cent from 2009 to 2010.
