This is a very hard to find Motorola tube car radio.  The lid is marked 1947, but I can find no model number.  it's in two pieces - the radio itself in a box with lugs marked +, gnd, ant.  The control head connects via two mechanical cables which are included and which do work - manually moving the end of the cables causes the volume know to turn and the dial pointer to move.

The control head also has a multi-pin plug which is inserted into the receiver.  I think it controls the tuning when you push one of the preset buttons.  These snap in and out normally when you press them.

A great restoration project - the paint is rough on the outside, but the radio looks fine and untouched inside.  The control head has a tarnished chrome bezel.  I cleaned a small part so you can see the chrome underneath.

This has not been tested and  I don't guarantee anything about it, but if you're into restoring old radios, here's a nice one to work on.

Fri, 14 May 2010

Philip Hammond vows to end the War on Motorists Now there’s a damn fine start to Philip Hammond’s stint as Secretary of State for Transport - the end of the Government war on motorists. It’s also a good headline for the Tories, but what’s the meat? Actually, quite promising. Philip has announced that there will be an end to funding speed cameras.
