Toyota says Prius plug-in gets 65 mpg
Mon, 02 Feb 2009Toyota Priuses with plug-in hybrid technology are averaging 65 mpg in combined gasoline and electric-mode testing. "That is real-world driving," said Bill Reinert, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.'s national alternative-fuel vehicle manager. "I ask my guys to drive them as you drive your normal Prius." By comparison, the redesigned 2010 Prius, a parallel hybrid with nickel-metal hydride batteries, will have an estimated 50 mpg rating.
Caterham Seven 160 launches as a back to basics Seven
Tue, 22 Oct 2013Caterham Seven 160 launches as a back to basics Seven The promise of 80bhp from a tiny Suzuki 3-cylinder turbo engine may not sound the perfect recipe for a fun little sports car, but wrapped up in the ‘back to basics’ Caterham Seven 160 it very well could be. Caterham has revealed details of their new entry-level Seven – called 160 – after a tease earlier in the year, which comes with the aforementioned Suzuki 3-pot engine which is powerful enough to promise brisk acceleration of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds. Caterham has stripped the 160 back to the bone with very low weight, it gets a five-speed manual – from Suzuki but tweaked by Caterham – and a live rear axle.
Fiat 500C Convertible – launched in the UK today
Thu, 02 Jul 2009The new Fiat 500C Convertible launches in UK showrooms today And if you want a fun, economical and stylish little convertible to zip round the city in this summer, it would be hard to find a better option than the 500C. True, its ‘cutesey’ style is not to everyone’s taste, but it’s hard to argue against the car when it costs just £11k (for the Pop version) and is quite likely to hang on to a good chunk of its value for the next year or two. But retro-looking as it may be, the 500C is very much a modern car.
