Up for auction is a seat and saddle bags made of white, fringed leather. I currently have a 1951 Harley Davidson motorcycle up for auction on ebay that belonged to my brother.  While looking for the parts for the motorcycle, we came across this set of accessories.  From the boxes which held these items, it seems that he ordered them through Molenaar Harley Davidson in Hammond, Indiana.  The box was packed with a lot of crumbled papers which indicate 1990, Arkansas.  That is all I can relate regarding these items except to say they are new and have never been put on a bike.  Not being a motorcycle person, I don't know what other models, makes, or years these great items might fit.  I'll have to let that to you folks.  Although the photos look a little strange, you have to understand that the items have been boxed for more than 20 years, and so the fringe which is absolutely complete, is somewhat distorted at this time.  Please, if you have any questions, ask before you bid.  Check my other auctions.  Thanks for looking.  The seat dimensions are approximately 21" long x 15" at the widest part of the seat.

The ball will start rolling with the McLaren P11, a car aimed squarely at the F430/Gallardo market.

Peter Stevens and Julian Thomson lead a discussion on the past, present and future of car design

Fri, 24 May 2013

As part of its sponsorship of London's Clerkenwell Design Week, Jaguar and the Royal College of Art brought together three generations of the design school to discuss the past, present and possible future of car design. Held in a suitably grimy warehouse in east London – with the sculpture by RCA students Ewan Gallimore and Claire Mille's we showed you earlier this week sat outside – Professor Dale Harrow, dean of the School of Design and head of its Vehicle Design program introduced Professor Peter Stevens, Julian Thomson, Jaguar's advanced design director and Alexandra Palmowski project designer advanced colour and material at Jaguar took the audience through their careers. Charismatic as ever, Peter Stevens kicked off proceedings that moved chronologically through the decades by explaining how he first became interested in "the art if car design, allied to the science of how they work" through his artistic parents and uncle – journalist and motoring adventurer – Denis Jenkinson during the 1950s and 60s.
