Economic downturn might hit plans for Porsche small roadster

Porsche's decision on whether to build an entry-level roadster will depend on the global economy, CEO Matthias Mueller said. Mueller said that if the automaker decides to go ahead with the car, sales would begin at the earliest in the third quarter of 2014, but probably later. A decision on production will depend on how the global economic situation pans out, particularly in relation to the auto industry, Mueller said.

We did hear shortly after its appearance at Goodwood that the Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is going in to production, but now that’s been made official by Peugeot. In terms of what’s on offer, the Cabrio – apart from the hole in the roof – is going to be exactly what the DS 3 Racing is with a 1.6 litre four-pot Turbo delivering a very healthy 207bhp, enough for a 0-62mph in around 6.5 seconds.

Hydrogen cars to storm London

A CONSORTIUM of car makers, infrastructure suppliers and energy consultancies has signed an exciting new agreement to turn hydrogen-powered cars into an everyday reality. The pioneering deal, dubiously named the HyFIVE project (Hydrogen For Innovative Vehicles), is the largest of its kind in Europe. The five manufacturers have agreed to deploy a total of 110 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles at several European locations and develop new clusters of hydrogen refuelling stations – and London is high on the list of targets.
