BMW to show production hybrid X6, 7-series at Frankfurt motor show
Thu, 13 Aug 2009A pair of fire-breathing hybrids from BMW based on the X6 and the 7-series will be revealed in production guise at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The ActiveHybrid X6 arrives in the United States late this year, followed by the ActiveHybrid 7 in the spring of 2010. Both hybrids combine electric motors with powerful twin-turbo V8 engines to boost output, performance and fuel economy, while retaining the looks of the popular conventional versions.

We were hearing conflicting stories about the direction Ferrari were heading, ranging from a Shooting Brake version of the current 612 to an all new Ferrari range-topper with a big, new V12 – and a Shooting Brake design. As well as the 1.3-litre 75bhp diesel, and 1.4-litre 100bhp petrol, the range will now start with a 1.2-litre 69bhp petrol engine that Fiat had originally said wouldn’t be coming to the UK. A base 1.2-litre in Pop spec will start at just £7900, rising up to £10,700 for a top-level 1.4-litre.
