Tue, 03 Dec 2013Porsche style vice-president Michael Mauer has revealed how the new Macan's design was influenced by racecars. In this new video, Mauer and members of his design team explain some of the Macan's development and the team's desire to create "a true Porsche in each segment – a true sports car". Classic Porsche design cues were immediately obvious upon seeing the Macan in the metal in Tokyo and Los Angeles – including its rear and interior – and Mitja Borkert, director advanced design style, identifies other recognizable features.
Volkswagen CrossBlue concept
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Volkswagen has unveiled its new CrossBlue SUV concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Developed specifically for the North American market, if it makes it into production it will sit above the Tiguan and below the Touareg in the VW SUV range. The CrossBlue was designed in Germany under the leadership of VW Group's head of design Walter de'Silva and Klaus Bischoff, the VW Brand's head of design in close co-operation with Volkswagen of America.
Jaguar XKR-S GT revealed (+ video)
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Jaguar has pulled a surprise with the reveal of a more focused, and expensive, XKR ahead of the New York Auto Show – the Jaguar XKR-S GT. The XKR-S GT doesn’t get extra power – the XKR-S already has 542bhp – but it does get lots of tweaks to make it more able to use the performance it has. That means a new bonnet with more vents to improve cooling, a new carbon fibre front splitter, new rear diffuser, an aluminium undertray at the front, a whopping great spoiler at the back and bits of carbon fibre floating around.
