Here's a very nice, solid pair of 1968-70 Mopar B-body convertible rear side panel ash trays. These were both very solid clean cores, free of rust out, pin holes or dents or dings on lid, that were taken apart and re-chromed. Lids are beautiful bright shiny chrome with no pitting or dents. The lower receiver is nice and solid and clean with nice bright blating inside, and full brightness chrome on upper edge and where cigarette would sit. The only thing these need is to have the small springs put on them that close the lid (I do not have these--perhaps you could use your old ones if you have some that are decent), as well as have some pins / rivets installed where the lid pivots on the base (like they were originally). These had to be taken apart (by a previous owner) to get re-chromed, and just need to be put back together again. One re-assembled, these should look great, and be suitable for a show car's use! Hard item to find, especially as nice as these.
Brand:Original Mopar, 1968-70 B-Body convertibles Placement on Vehicle:Left, Right, Rear Manufacturer Part Number:1-pr, taken apart to re-chrome, needs re-assembly Surface Finish:Beautiful show chrome on lid + inner lip and well Interchange Part Number:very clean and dent- free pieces. Warranty:Yes Other Part Number:Need small springs plus hinge pins put on them Country/Region of Manufacture:United States

Up for your auction bids is this very nice original reconditioned used pair of original Mopar rear side panel -mounted chrome ash trays, for 1968-70 B-body convertibles I believe these were out of 1970 Coronet convertible originally, and are unique to only the convertible model B-bodies-- as I recall. The lid on these measures approx 2-7/16" long x 2" deep (including the front tab overhang). Sorry, I do not have the wider chrome trim ring that sat on rear plastic side panels, that these dropped into.

These chromed rear ash tray assemblies where carefully taken apart by a previous owner to be able to get re-chromed.  All the pieces look to have been in nice clean shape, and free of dents and dings on lids.  The lids on these are bright, shiny, and smooth chrome plating, with no dents or dings.  The ash receiver part has a shiny bright upper lip and ledge where the cigarette would sit on.  The lower well part is clean, bright satin finish chrome plating, and pretty much free of any bad pitting or any pin holes.  Nice solid pieces.  These will need to be put together still by you.  They need the small spring put on each one that snaps down the lid (I did not get with these, so you will have to use you old ones or obtain some somewhere).  They both will need some small pins or rivets put on in the hinge area.  Again, I do not have these, you will have to obtain some, or perhaps just fabricate some on your own, which shouldn't be too hard.

Once properly assembled up, these should look and work just great, and be suitable for a top-condition / show car.  These convertible -unique rear side panel ash trays are very hard to find in genuine original Mopar, especially this clean and nice shape!  Be sure to put in those good bids today at my reasonable opening bid price for these rare items.  Thanks for stopping in to look and bid!

GM continues work on fuel-saving engine technology

Wed, 20 May 2009

Sometime in the next decade, you might be able to enjoy some of the benefits of a diesel without driving one. A technology called HCCI improves fuel economy 15 percent and releases fewer emissions by using a combustion process similar to what is used in diesel powerplants. General Motors continues work on the project, which could be applied across a range of engine sizes and used with other advanced fuel-saving technologies to help the company comply with the proposed new mileage and emissions targets announced Tuesday by President Barack Obama.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8: Australia gets 1,000 but UK gets just 100

Thu, 26 Apr 2012

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 - just 100 coming to the UK The range-topping Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 arrives in the UK in the Autumn, but just 100 cars are allocated to the UK in the first year. We like just about everything that makes up the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. We like its styling – still very US but with a welcome does of European panache; we like  its interior – no longer an American plastic feast; we like it’s price – there’s a lot on offer for not silly money.

Chevrolet GPiX concept

The 25th São Paulo Auto Show marked the debut of a new concept from General Motors: the Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe. Developed by General Motors Design in Brazil, the concept represents a potential new segment for the auto giant in the emerging Latin American market. "It offers the sporty design and versatility necessary for a country with the continental dimensions of Brazil," said Carlos Barba, General Director of Design for GM Latin America, Africa and Middle East.
