The bumper is good for a core - chrome is rusty & it has some small dents. The grille is largely intact with 2 hairline cracks in the inner part, and some teeth missing on the top & bottom right side between the grille and fairing. The bottom left where the inner grille connects to the fairing is broken. Left headlight door has a scallop missing beneath the logo. Fairing is damaged in 3 places, with a piece missing from the upper right corner & a radiating crack, the upper right bolt flange where fairing connects to the upper reinforcement panel, & cracked through on the top left, inline with the inner edge of the left headlight door. Headlight door motor is rusty & I don't know if it works. Most of the metal parts have some level of rust from surface rust to heavy pitting.

Up for auction is a 1970 Dodge Charger grille and bumper assembly.  If you’ve been looking for one, you know how hard they are to find.  This will ONLY fit a 1970 Dodge Charger, it will not fit Chargers of other years, or any other Chrysler product.

This has been stored indoors for the last 20 years, but was stored outdoors for an unknown amount of time before that.  As a result, there is varying amounts of rust on the metal components including the nuts, bolts, and screws holding it together (see photos).

The assembly includes:

Radiator Grille – Inner grille has two hairline cracks in the body (upper right side by the headlight door & bottom center - see photos), but the teeth are intact.  The teeth connecting the inner grille to the grille fairing are intact on the left side, but some are missing on the top and bottom of the right side.  The heavier plastic piece connecting the inner grille and the fairing is broken on the right side bottom where the grille ends to fit the headlight doors.  The “Charger” nameplate in the lower left corner of the grille is intact.

Grille Fairing – This is damaged in 3 areas, the upper front corner on the right side which also has a radiating crack, the back of the upper right side where the fairing bolts to the upper reinforcement panel, and the top on the left side roughly in line with the headlight door (see photos).

Headlight Doors – Both headlight doors are present.  The right side is undamaged, the left side has a small scallop out of one of the vertical strakes just below the red-chrome-black logo (see photos).  From comparison to a vintage Dodge parts manual, all the mounting hardware appears to be present.

Headlight Door Actuator Bars – Both bars are present, straight, and connected to the headlight door mechanism on one end and the motor gear actuator on the other.

Headlight Door Motor – This is present and complete with plug connection, however I have no idea if it works or not and have no way to test it.  The exterior is rusted,

Bumper – The bumper needs re-chroming and has some small dents.  It's basically good as a core.

There are a lot of other parts that are part of this assembly that I can’t positively identify, so please study the photos and ask questions if you need more information.  I’ll do my best to answer them.

This item is sold as-is, no returns will be accepted.  This is EXTREMELY heavy.  Local pick-up only.

Drivers unmoved by electric cars

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

SUPPORT for electric cars appears to be failing to spark off real interest from drivers, according to a survey of more than 3,000 motorists. Only 1% of UK drivers own an alternative fuel vehicle (AFV), while CO2 emissions are at the bottom of the checklist when Britons are shopping for a new car, the poll by Auto Trader found. Since January 2011, motorists have been eligible for up to £5,000 upfront cost relief on the purchase of a new electric vehicle but the survey showed that 35% of drivers were unaware of this grant.

Land Rover Defender Harris Tweed (2012) prototype

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

Here's a curious mix of classic Britishness and modern modifications: a Kahn-tuned Land Rover Defender fitted with a butch bodykit, enormous multispoke wheels and knobbly tyres and - inside -tweed-trimmed bucket seats. It's like a Spitfire wearing a Damien Hurst-penned livery. This is, to give the car its full title, the Kahn Defender Concept 17 Wide Body - Harris Tweed Prototype.
