The car designer, illustrator and futurist has inspired generations of the men and women who shape the cars we drive or admire. Syd has created the designs for the movies Blade Runner and Tron, while the illustrations published in his books such as Oblagon and Sentury (sought-after collector items today) depict the vision of a future dominated by superior technology and aesthetics.
SoCal Speed shop wins AMBR award as hod-rodding returns to its roots
Mon, 30 Jan 2012In a competition that "took hot-rodding back to its SoCal roots," the SoCal Speed Shop--the entity founded by original hot-rod hero Alex Xydias and now helmed by Pete Chapouris--finally won the AMBR. That's AMBR, as in, America's Most Beautiful Roadster, the most sought-after title in all of hot-rodding and the crowning glory of the Grand National Roadster Show. There is that competition at the Detroit Autorama that hands out the Ridler Award, but that is open to all manner of kustom kars.
Price set for 2012 Hyundai Sonata hybrid
Fri, 23 Dec 2011Hyundai will price its 2012 Sonata hybrid at $26,610, including shipping charges, the company said. That's a $55 bump from the 2011 model. Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system will come standard on the hybrid.
