Jaguar XF is ‘Car of the Decade’
Mon, 22 Oct 2012The Southern Guild of Motoring Writers has declared the Jaguar XF the car of the decade at the SGMW’s 10th anniversary event. Designed by Ian Callum, under Ford’s ownership, the XF demonstrated that Jaguar had finally realised that building cars that were a pastiche of past glories was no longer enough to guarantee sales. Under the skin, much of the Jaguar XF carried over from its predecessor – the Jaguar S Type – but it was in the execution that the XF demonstrated it was capable of giving Jaguar new life.
Local authorities cashing in with CCTV fines
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Councils are turning to CCTV cameras and spy cars to raise £312m in revenue, that’s according to Traffic Spies, a report published by civil liberties group, Big Brother Watch. Using a series of freedom of information requests, the group has discovered that many councils are continuing to use CCTV to hand out fines, despite the government’s Surveillance Camera Code of Practice, which highlights the need to use CCTV for traffic offences “sparingly”. Boca Raton concours to honor Milhous brothers
Wed, 11 Jan 2012Well-heeled car fans will be able to get their hands on some highly coveted autos when the Milhous collection goes up for auction on Feb. 24, in a multiday sale that coincides with the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance. Bob and Paul Milhous of the Milhous Museum will be honored with the Lee Iacocca Award at this year's concours, a distinction that goes to individuals who have perpetuated the American automotive tradition in their dedication to classic-car preservation.
