Hyundai teases new HCD-14 concept (2013)
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Hyundai is no stranger to the coupé market and it plans to unveil another at the 2013 Detroit motor show next week - in the shape of the HCD-14. No information regarding performance or pricing has been released yet, aside from a single teaser image, but a Mercedes CLS-type swooshing rear end won’t get any complaints from us. Hyundai HCD-14: the teaser Hyundai says the HCD-14 'will give the automotive world a glimpse into future Hyundai premium vehicle design, advanced 3-D gesture-based technology controls, and spirited driving dynamics.' Standard concept car teasing twaddle, then. For the full story on the new Hyundai coupe, come back next week when we report live from the North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit motor show.
Steve McQueen Porsche 911 hammers at $1.375 million during RM Monterey auction
Sat, 20 Aug 2011Setting a world record for a Porsche 911 sold at auction, Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S went to a new owner for a cool $1.375 million during RM Auctions' Monterey event on Friday. The 911 wasn't just owned by McQueen; it also featured prominently at the beginning of the film Le Mans as the lead character, played by McQueen, drives through France reflecting on the realities of racing. Hagerty's Rob Sass and I checked out the car on Wednesday night at the RM Auctions preview.
Car manufacturing halted in Japan
Mon, 14 Mar 2011Nissan cars awaiting export wrecked by Tsunami In the wake of the devastating earthquake and Tsunami that struck Japan last week, the domestic car industry has ground to a halt. Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi have all now said they are halting all production until at least Wednesday in order to allow time to address damage, and to allow staff to make contact with family in affected areas. But it’s not just the damage to plants that’s the problem.
