BMW 1-Series Electric - BMW ActiveE It’s been a while since we first saw the BMW ActiveE, the BMW 1-Series with the gubbins from the MINI E bolted under the bonnet (and various other places) and intended as the next instalment in BMW’s plans to charge its customers to do real-world development and research. In fact, the electric BMW 1-Series first crossed our radar in December 2009 and went on to be shown as a concept at the Detroit Motor Show a month later. CASH-STRAPPED young drivers rejoice – Vauxhall is to offer drivers between 18 and 20 one year’s insurance cover for a one off payment of £99. To qualify you’ll need to opt for one of Vauxhall’s Corsa Excite or Limited Edition models. The car maker is teaming up with insurance provider ingenie, and each car is fitted with ‘black box' technology which monitors driving style, including speed, acceleration, braking and cornering.

MEDIA interest might have died down but thousands are still dealing with the devastation caused by the recent flooding. Along with homeowners, motorists also battled rising water levels and deteriorating road conditions. However, according to a new survey of its members, the AA has said that as many as 68 percent of those polled said the extreme weather had contributed to poor road conditions but 67 percent blamed councils for not maintaining drains well enough.
