Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing – too tight for comfort?
Fri, 02 Oct 2009Is the cabin in the new Mercedes SLS too tight for comfort? We weren’t hugely enamoured by the styling in the early camouflaged shots, but we came round enough when we saw the car in the flesh and accept it as more an homage to the 300SL than a pastiche. And despite some concerns that it won’t stack up against the SLR on the road, the news that Mercedes are working on an SLS AMG Black Series should address that concern – at a price.
Caparo supercars
Mon, 21 Jul 2008By Tim Pollard 21 July 2008 10:42 You've probably heard of the madcap Caparo T1. CAR drove the first example and was left pondering how one of the world's fastest cars was also one of the scariest. But you might have forgotten that Caparo is better known as a huge engineering company in the automotive sector and elsewhere, employing 6000 people worldwide and turning over €1.5 billion a year.
Kia's Forte Super Bowl ad features violent android lady
Fri, 01 Feb 2013There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.” While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.
