General Motors combines smartphone functions with the Chevrolet Volt
Wed, 06 Jan 2010General Motors is bringing together two of the hottest areas of technology--smartphones and plug-in electric cars. GM's OnStar telematics unit has developed a downloadable application that will let Chevrolet Volt drivers use a Blackberry Storm, Apple iPhone or Motorola Droid to remotely control and monitor some vehicle functions, such as charging. The Volt is slated to go into production late this year and arrive in California utility company fleets by early 2011.

Tue, 03 Dec 2013The facelifted Renault Megane (pictured) costs from £16,745 Renault has given the Megane a bit of a facelift for 2014, and the tweaked Megane debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Now the new Megane has gone on sale in the UK – as a Hatchback, Coupe and Sport Tourer – with prices starting at £16,745 for the Expression+ 1.6 VVT 110 Hatch, rising to £26,925 for the Renaultsport 265 Coupe. The changes wrought by Renault for the Megane are relatively minor, with a new family nose (a lot like the new Clio), new lights, tweaked bonnet, new Renault badge and some very minor interior changes including the addition of Renault’s R-Link Media system as an option.
Driving Ban Over Unrestrained Child
Thu, 04 Sep 2014A DRIVER has been banned for six months after he was caught on camera speeding at 70mph with a child standing or kneeling on the front passenger seat. John Naisbitt was fined £115 and given three penalty points on top of the ban after he admitted speeding and "carrying a passenger in a manner likely to cause danger". Northallerton Magistrates' Court heard that the 66-year-old from County Durham was caught as he passed a North Yorkshire Police camera on April 27 on the A59 at Menwith Hill.
