The air runs out of run-flat tires
Mon, 27 Jul 2009After settling a lawsuit last month with disgruntled owners of Michelin run-flat tires, Honda dropped the tires for the 2010 model year. It was another disappointment for Michelin and other makers of run-flat tires in a 17-year effort to win customers in the United States. When run-flat tires appeared here in 1992, they were expected to win wide acceptance as original equipment.

Wed, 17 Jun 2009The Jaguar XJ 2.7 Diesel has won the 'Greenest Luxury Car' Award And although one of the strengths of Jaguar has been its heritage it has, to a degree, also become its Achilles Heel. The first Jaguar XJs were a triumph when they were launched in 1968, and put Jaguar leaps and bounds ahead of the German competition, in the same way Jaguar had taken the world by storm with the E-Type a few years before. But things started to fall apart for Jaguar in the ’70s with the fiasco that was British Leyland, and by trying to emulate Porsche by making each iteration of the XJ an evolution of the original all they managed to do was cement in the public mindset the failings of the XJ.

Thu, 28 Aug 2014TV’s Wheeler Dealers - the programme that buys cars and fixes them up for a profit - is returning to the Discovery Channel on Monday evening (1 September) with a new series. In it, presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China will restore their 100th car. To promote its return, the programme has asked more than 2,000 people to vote for what they think is the greatest car of all time – as well as the top 10 previously embarrassing cars they’d now like to own.
